Did they make synthetic stones in the 1920s?

I've a 14KT gold ring with what looks like garnets and diamonds in it. It is Art Deco and was given to my grandmother as an engagement ring in 1927. In a loupe I can see air bubbles in the red stones. Does this mean they are synthetic?
Well you all certainly disagree! The Antiques Roadshow is coming to town next month, and I will definately take it in to see what the experts say. Thanks!

No synthetic stones were developed in the year 1920’s.It must be only original stone.
nope….. inclusions in a stone nearly always say ‘genuine’…. but…. take it to a jeweler for apraisal to be sure…. you may have a real dandy there!!!…. I got one from an elderly aunt… rose cut rubies and seed pearls in rose gold…. all very small, but the value was set quite high!!!….. go check it out!!!….
There have been synthetic sapphires and rubies made since the 1880’s. Bubbles in a red stone possibly indicate that the stone is glass or perhaps a synthetic ruby. Synthetic stones were VERY common in 1920’s jewelry. Synthetic garnets are not common and have only been manufactured in the last 20 years or so.
That word “synthetic” wasn’t even know back then….Its got to be the real McCory…take it to a licensed Jewelry
